NUIG gets go-ahead for flood prevention works
Galway Bay fm newsroom - The City Council has approved the construction of flood prevention works at NUI Galway.
The works will take place at the distillery channel waterway which passes through the centre of the city campus.
The distillery channel flows through most of the NUIG campus, and as it's a waterway it is a protected structure under the city development plan.
The flood prevention works involve the re-construction of a penstock for urban drainage flow diversion directly to River Corrib.
