NUIGalway has dropped dramatically in the world university rankings.

NUIG's drop reflects the trend across many Irish Universities, with Trinity College Dublin and University College Dublin also having dropped in the rankings.

The only college to buck the trend was University College Cork.

The Cork university has become the first Irish university to achieve five star status in the QS World Rankings.
