NORTH WEST MEP BACKS CALLS FOR ALLOWANCE CUT

North West MEP Marian Harkin is backing calls to cut the current MEP daily allowance of 300 euro to 200 euro.
It follows a recent call by fellow MEP Paul Murphy to cut the perk which he says is excessive.
MEPs receive a monthly allowance of 4 thousand 200 for general office expenses in addition to a salary of 92 to 94 thousand a year.
The additional daily allowance is used for general living expenses in Brussels such as hotel and food costs.
