NORTEL INSISTS GALWAY WORKFORCE WILL NOT BE AFFECTED BY REDUNDANCIES IN THE NORTH

Communications giant Nortel has insisted todays latest redundancy announcement will have no impact on it's Galway workforce.A company spokesperson confirmed to Galway Bay FM News that the redundancies affect the UK and Northern Ireland only. 87 people have been let go at the Nortel plant in Newtownabbey today. The Mervue branch in Galway city has a workforce of 600.Nortel Ireland Ltd went into administration in January and a team of experts are currently trying to rescue the company.
