No NAMA homes in county transferred for social housing
Galway Bay fm newsroom – No NAMA properties identified for social housing in the county have been taken over by the County Council. According to today's Irish Independent, 98 properties in the county were flagged by NAMA as being suitable for social housing. While the County Council confirmed there is demand for 40 of the properties, no transfers have taken place. In the city, 152 properties were identified for possible social housing and the City Council expressed an interest in all of them. So far 60 of the city homes have been transferred to local authority ownership. Nationally, only 10 percent of NAMA properties identified for social housing have been taken over. 2 thousand 700 properties had to be taken off the table because Councils were too slow to take them over or refused them because of lack of demand in certain areas
