The Sisters of Mercy have been given final approval to build a new convent in Salthill.

They had originally been granted planning permission for the 3-storey building at Taylors Hill by Galway City Council.

However, some local residents lodged an appeal against the decision to An Bord Pleanála.

An Bord Pleanála has decided to allow the new 2 - 3 storey Convent be built with revised conditions attached.

The internal road network for the development must comply with the detailed standards of the City Council.
