N17 CLOSED FOLLOWING ROAD CRASH

One man has been taken to hospital following a three car road collision on the N17 Tuam Road.

The incident took place at 7.45 this morning [Jan 8] a few miles outside Claregalway.

The road has since been closed due to an oil spillage which has made driving conditions dangerous.

Council crews have been alerted and are making their way to the scene.

One man was taken to University Hospital Galway where his injuries are not thought to be serious.

Gardai hope to reopen the road as soon as possible.
