MURDER INVESTIGATION INTO OUGHTERARD DEATH

The investigation into the death of a teacher and part-time publican in Oughterard last weekend, has now been upgraded to murder.
It comes after post mortem results issued last night found that John Kenny died as a result of injuries he sustained in an assault.
Today a team from the National Bureau of Criminal Investigation will join the case.
John Kenny was a teacher at the Presentation Secondary School in Athenry where his daughter Gillian is also on staff.
The body of 56 year old John Kenny was discovered by members of his family at his pub in Oughterard at around 6 o'clock on Sunday evening.
