The new Suzuki e-Vitara.

One of this column’s favourite brands is entering the cutting edge of car manufacturing with the launch of the e-Vitara – its first fully electric car – in Ireland with first customer deliveries taking place next month.

There are two versions being offered to customers with either 49kWh or 61kWh battery capacities. There will also be an optional ALLGRIP-e, Suzuki’s newly developed electric four-wheel drive system. Suzuki claim a driving range of 426km (WLTP Combined) for 61kWh 2WD model and 344km for the smaller 49kWh battery model.

If the last 12 months is anything to go by the brand has been going from strength to strength in Ireland with record sales in 2025 of 2,370 units. That represents a 15% growth in sales and 1.9% market share.

In a full year, Suzuki Ireland expects that the e VITARA will make up around 25% of Suzuki sales in this country. That may even prove to be stronger as the sales of electric vehicles are showing a healthy increase over the last few months and this might just be perfect timing for the Japanese company.

As always from the giant car maker we can see that e VITARA features on-point design that combines a sense of advanced technology and strength, a BEV powertrain that delivers a nimble and sharp driving experience, and a newly developed platform HEARTECT-e specifically for BEVs.

As with all EVs the new e VITARA qualifies for the SEAI grant as well as a reduction in VRT. This brings the price of the 49kWh Motion grade down to just €32,995. With the bigger Motion 61kWh model the price looks like exceptional value at €36,995. The higher Ultra 61kWhmodel starts at €40,470 while if you need all-wheel drive they are offering the Ultra 61kWh Allgrip-e at €44,055.

In line with Suzuki’s brand ethos and renowned product pillar of offering all the technology you need as standard; 49kWh Motion offers 18-inch alloy wheels, reversing camera, front and rear parking sensors, smartphone connectivity, keyless entry and start, Heat Pump, Dual Sensor Brake Support, Lane Keep Assist and Lane Departure Prevention, Blind Spot Monitor and Rear Cross Traffic Alert plus Navigation, Integrated display system (10.25-inch instrument meter display & 10.1-inch centre display) and four years subscription to Suzuki Connect connected services.

61kWh Motion offers heated driver’s and front passenger seats, heated steering wheel and heater outlet for rear seat occupants.

Moving up to 61kWh Ultra models adds 19-inch alloy wheels, wireless phone charger, Adaptive high-beam system, Infinity audio system with subwoofer, 360-degree camera, glass roof panel, LED front fog lamps, 10-way power adjustable driver’s seat and half-synthetic leather seat material.

Additional standard equipment for the Ultra model when optioned with ALLGRIP-e includes dual-motor electric 4WD system with Trail mode and Hill descent control.

This car is 4275mm long, 1800 mm wide with a height of 1635mm. With a wheelbase of 2700mm, it is 200mm longer and with wider tyres when compared with Hybrid Vitara although it still retains the same compact turning radius of just 5.2metres. Hybrid Vitara remains very popular with Irish customers and will continue to be sold alongside the fully electric model.

All models feature an all-new EV powertrain, charging and power supply system along with Heat Pump battery thermal management system fitted as standard equipment for optimal battery range.

Up to 10 years / 160,000km vehicle and EV battery warranty comprising of three years manufacturer / seven-year vehicle service activated plus eight years manufacturer battery warranty and two years’ service activated warranty.
