Few car makers have the vast experience as Nissan in delivering electric vehicles, and the car maker has launched an all-new electric Nissan Mirca, marking the start of a new chapter for the iconic car which first hit Irish roads over 40 years ago.

Nissan chiefs tell us that the Micra takes things to a new level, combining the car’s long-standing reputation for practicality and affordability with intuitive technology to make it the smart choice for everyday drivers making the switch to electric driving.

Based on the same platform as the award-winning Renault 5 Micra is more agile and comfortable than the previous five generations.

“Nissan is focused on making EVs that fit into the everyday lives of our customers and that deliver electric driving as it should be. We know how to do that because we have been making EVs for more than 15 years, and the all-new Micra is perfectly sized and equipped with intuitive technology so you can pack more into your everyday life,” said Seamus Morgan, Managing Director of Nissan Ireland at the launch of the car in Wexford.

“The Nissan Micra is the one nameplate which is instantly familiar to Irish motorists, and we are thrilled that its reputation as a practical, versatile and affordable car continues to be very much at the heart of its return as a fully electric vehicle,” he added.

The all-new Micra is available in three grades. The entry level Engage grade has a 40kWh battery and is priced at €25,995. The Advance grade is priced from €27,995 from the 40kWh version and from €30,995 for the 52kWh variant. The top of the range Evolve grade is only available with the 52kWh battery and is priced at €32.995. All prices include the SEAI grant of €3,500 and exclude delivery related charges.

On the outside is SUV-inspired, but right-sized for agility on narrow roads and streets. The interior, meanwhile, includes clean lines and beautifully integrated tech including dual 10.1” infotainment screens which blend digital control with clarity.

Intuitive in-car tech is embedded as part of the fully connected driving experience. Google Maps, Assistant and Play Store are built in along with voice control and the most up to date navigation. The NissanConnect app allows you to set the cabin temperature, check your battery status remotely, and plan your route with charging stops already built in.

Safety is also a priority and standard safety features include Autonomous Emergency Braking, Emergency Lane Keeping Assist and Lane Departure Warning for peace of mind. A full suite of driver assistance features is also available including adaptive cruise control and parking support.

The model is now available to test-drive at local Nissan dealerships.
