More time sought for Barna housing and retail development

Galway Bay fm newsroom – More time is being sought to construct a housing and retail development in Gorramoyle in Barna. The application from Barry, Shane and Michael Heskin seeks to build 32 housing units and a two-storey commercial block. The project sets out to build 32 housing units. It would also provide a two-storey commercial block which would house three retail units, a cafe and a library. The project was approved by An Bord Pleanála in November 2009 following an appeal, however construction has not yet commenced due to what the applicants describe as ‘commercial and economic reasons'. Permission for the development is due to expire in November this year. County planners are due to make a decision on the extension request next month.
