A group of fishermen from Galway is to meet the Minister for Natural Resources, Pat Rabbitte about oyster dredging licences. 13 licences have been issued this year and under E.U Directives, no more can be issued until a fisheries management plan is produced. The E.U has ruled that there is over intensification of the oyster bed in the inner Galway Bay - Clarinbridge area. Local fishermen in Clarinbridge are concerned that their livelihoods are at risk if they can't fish for oysters. A deputation is due to meet Minister Rabbitte at Leinster House tomorrow.
