MEP hopeful review of Aran air subsidy will not jeopardise service

Galway Bay fm newsroom – Midlands Northwest MEP Marian Harkin is confident that a review of the Government subsidy for the Aran Islands air service will not jeopardise its future operation. Earlier this month, the Government announced that the Public Service Obligation contract was to be extended until September 2015. The extension has been granted pending a review which is ongoing at the European Commission in Brussels. MEP Harkin told Galway Bay fm news she is hopeful this review will not impact on the future of the service, which she argues is vital for the island community and the tourism sector.
