MENLO MAN CHARGED WITH GROWING CANNABIS AT HOME

A man charged with growing cannabis plants and opium poppy at his Menlo home has been remanded on continuing bail.

Michael O'Hearain of Menlo Cottage has been accused of growing the plants at that address on October 26th last year.

The 37-year-old has been charged under section 17 of the Misuse of Drugs Act and is due to appear before Galway District Court again on April 4th.

A decision on whether the case should be heard in a higher court is expected by the Director of Public Prosecutions on that date.
