Mayor of Galway Hildegarde Naughton has launched the programme of events to celebrate 150 years of St Joseph's Patrician College 'The Bish'

The city secondary school opened in 1862, and is the last remaining Patrician boys' only school in Galway.

A programme of events to celebrate the occasion were unveiled at the Mayoral opening.

These include the launch of a new website this month followed by an alumni website in June and a gala dinner for past pupils to be held in October.

Speaking at the launch at the college in Nuns Island this afternoon, Mayor Naughton says the Patrician Brothers are an important part of Galway's history.
