Management of Knocknacarra Community Centre to be opened up to the community
Galway Bay fm newsroom – Local community groups are to be invited to tender for the management of Knocknacarra Community Centre. That's according to Fine Gael Cllr Pearce Flannery who says the decision follows negotiations with the CEO of the City Council. In April, Brendan McGrath agreed to hold off on the tendering process for the management of Ballinfoile neighbourhood centre and Cappagh Park centre in Knocknacarra due to concerns over privatisation. He had been urged to open discussions with local community groups and bring a report to members for debate in advance of taking any further action on the outsourcing of management. Now newcomer Cllr Pearce Flannery says local community groups will be given the opportunity to indicate their interest. He says it's a sensible solution.
