Man who died in Gort fire named locally but woman not yet formally identified
Galway Bay fm newsroom - A fire in Gort overnight which claimed the lives of two people is not being treated as suspicious.
The blaze broke out at Tom O'Donnell's Flats on the Railway Road at 2.50am.
One of the deceased has been identified as a 38 year old man.
He has been named locally as Ben Whiteman who lived at the flat complex.
The second person has yet to be officially identified through DNA analysis - however is understood to be a woman aged in her mid sixties.
Both were pronounced dead at the scene.
