MAN STILL DETAINED IN CONNECTION WITH MERVUE FIRE

Gardaí are continuing to question a man at Mill street Garda station this morning following a supicious fire and a series of burglaries in the Mervue area.
The alarm was raised in the early hours of yesterday morning[Nov 13] when Gardai were alerted to a number of burglaries and a fire in the McDonagh Avenue area.
Three units of the fire brigade attended the blaze which caused extensive damage to two properties and smoke damage to others nearby.
It's understood nobody was injured in the blaze which broke out in a garage adjoining both properties.
A technical examination of the scene has now been carried out.
The man, aged in his early twenties, is being detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
