MAN SENT FOR TRIAL CHARGED WITH RAPING GIRL IN GALWAY

A 58 year old man has been sent forward for trial to the Central Criminal Court charged with raping a child in Galway two years ago.

The man, who may not be named for legal reasons, is charged with raping a girl at a Galway city address on May 20, 2007.

The man appeared before Galway District Court yesterday where Detective John Lavery served him with a Book of Evidence.

Judge Mary Fahy sent the accused forward for trial on continuing bail to the present sittings of the Central Criminal Court.
