MAN REMANDED ON SEX ASSAULT CHARGES

A man charged with three counts of sexual assault and 12 counts of indecent assault has been remanded on continuing bail.

The 65 year old, who can't be named for legal reasons, is charged with the assaults on two females in the 80s and 90s in Galway city.

The man is charged with assaults which took place in Knocknacarra, on dates in 1998 and 1999 and in Newcastle, on dates between 1981 and 1986.At Galway District Court, Garda Inspector Mick Coppinger said that the book of evidence was not yet ready.

Judge Mary Fahy then remanded the man on continuing bail to appear again on Wednesday 11th January.

A book of evidence will then be served.
