Date Published: 31-Mar-2009

A man is recovering in hospital after a serious crash between an articulated truck and a van near Athenry yesterday. The head-on collision happened at Slieverue, about two miles from Athenry on the Kiltulla Road at 3pm. Two units of Athenry Fire brigade, Gardai and ambulances attended the scene. The man, a Polish national, was rushed to University Hospital Galway. Gardai are urging motorists driving from Athenry to Kiltulla this morning to drive with extreme caution as the road conditions are hazardous due to a substantial diesel spillage.
