MAN DUE IN COURT FOLLOWING CITY ASSAULT

A 23 year old man is due in court this morning charged with a serious assault on a man in the city last week.(28.12)

Dean O Brien of 16 Dromchoin, Rahoon was remanded in custody following a special sitting of Galway district court last Tuesday.

He is charged with assault causing harm to 28 year old Barry Mannion of Clybaun, at a taxi rank on Dominic street around 3:30 am Monday the 28th of December.

Barry Mannion was taken to UHG then transferred to Beaumont hospital in Dublin, where his condition is described as critical.

O Brien is due to appear before Galway district court this morning.
