MAJOR REDEVELOPMENT GETS GO AHEAD FOR TUAM TOWN

Date Published: 11-Nov-2009
The well-known Glynns Hardware site in Tuam is to be redeveloped.
The County council has approved plans to demolish the existing buildings at Townparks and build a major commercial and residential development in their place.
The plan includes 9 stores, an anchor store, five offices, a restaurant, apartments and a five-screen cinema.
There will be underground parking spaces for 196 cars as well as a riverside walk and public plaza areas.
The whole development will be two storeys high on Chapel Lane, rising to three storeys high along the Ballygaddy Road.
Glynns must pay the full cost of the traffic lights and widening of roadways for a right hand turning lane off the N17 and the Ballygaddy Road.
