MAJOR ORANMORE HOUSING AND AMENITY PROJECT REFUSED

Plans to build a major housing project, soccer pitch and coastal walk in Oranmore have been overturned. An Bord Pleanála has refused to allow White Cedar Developments build 56 houses and 7 apartments in Oranmore due to the close proximity of important ecological areas. An Bord Pleanála overturned the decision to grant, saying it was too close to Galway Bay, would set an undesirable precedent, would seriously injure the visual amenties of Oranmore and would have a negative visual impact on the setting of Galway Bay.
