MAJOR DISRUPTION TO GORT WATER SUPPLY

Homes and businesses are without water in Gort this Christmas Eve due to an electrical fault at the local treatment plant.

The disruption began at 5 this morning and emergency crews are now working to repair the fuse at the plant in Rindifin.

It's hoped supply will be restored by late evening but water consumers are asked to conserve water as resevoir levels may take some time to refill.

In the meantime, water tankers will be placed in locations around the town this afternoon.
