MAGDALENE SURVIVORS AWAIT ADDRESS FROM TAOISEACH IN DAIL DEBATE

Date Published: 19-Feb-2013
Survivors of the Magdalene Laundries say they expect nothing less than a full State apology from the Taoiseach this evening.
Dozens of women who spent time in the workhouses are attending the Dail debate on the issue to hear Enda Kenny's address.
The Cabinet is holding a special meeting before the speeches to finalise the Government's response to the McAleese Report.
It's expected the Taoiseach will also outline details of a compensation package for the survivors during his address at 6.30.
The Galway Magdalene laundry was operational until 1984.
