LOW RATIO OF CHILD PROTECTION STAFF IN GALWAY

The ratio of child protection staff to population in Galway is very low.That's according to an unpublished report complied by HSE childcare managers on the adequacy of child and family services around the country.An extract from the report, published in today's Irish Times, reveals that Galway's low ratio can result in a lack of service for low-threshold cases.It can also affect cases awaiting allocation, and result in cases being closed earlier than in the recent past.
