The first episode of a new online drama series, Lucky Run is released this Wednesday on RTÉ's website as part of their Storyland competition.
Lucky Run is a fast-paced adventure about a young man who finds himself in a lot of trouble after a wild night on the town.
It was shot in Tuam last month and features performances from Seóna Tully from Castlegar, Ros na Rún’s Fred McCloskey, Galway-based Larry McGowan and Dónal Ó Meachair of Westport,as well as a host of local characters in cameo roles.
Achill native, Colm Cafferkey came up with the idea of the ultimate hangover becoming the ultimate adventure story and he directed the piece which was produced by Éamon de Staic and Deirdre Gray of Capaillín Bán Productions.
“I approached Éamon with the idea in October and asked him if Capaillín Bán would be interested,” says Colm. “We got to work developing the script and making it all happen, he put together a great production team with loads of experience and enthusiasm and the whole thing has been great craic.”
Now they want viewers and votes.
“At this stage its all about getting the public behind us because we need that support to go through to the next round . . .so politicians aren't the only ones looking for your votes this week,” says Éamon.
Deirdre Gray adds, “The Hardy Bucks benefited hugely from a strong West of Ireland following which carried them to victory in 2009's Storyland competition and we'd be hoping to develop a similar kind of fanbase. We think its a story everyone can relate to.”
