LISBROOK DELEGATION TO TRAVEL TO LEINSTER HOUSE

Date Published: 20-Sep-2012
The campaign to keep a city asylum centre open will step up today.
A delegation from Lisbrook House will travel to Leinster House in an effort to convince TDs and Senators to support efforts to keep the facility open.
Earlier this month, Junior Minister Alan Shatter announced that residents would not be moved from Lisbrook House until a consideration process was completed.
The centre was set to wind down with up to 270 residents moved to other centres nationwide and job losses for 24 staff.
Galway Senator Trevor O' Clochartaigh is facilitating a meeting with two residents, TDs and Senators at Leinster House this lunchtime.
He's hoping Oireachtas members will listen to the concerns of residents
