Leisureland committee consider options to stem losses

Galway bay fm newsroom -The chairman of the board of Leisureland in Salthill says there are no plans to privatise the public amenity despite its trading losses.

The fitness and leisure centre incurred losses of around 400 thousand euro last year, down from 483 thousand euro in 2011.

Speaking on Galway Talks, City Councillor Donal Lyons says they are striving as a board to reduce losses, which are at an unsustainable level.

The future use of the fun-fair site is now under consideration by the board, with a view to possibly setting up a private-public partnership.
