LARGE ATTENDANCE AT FUNERAL OF MURDERED TUAM MAN

Date Published: 14-Oct-2007
In spite of a huge attendance at the funeral of shooting victim Edward Ward in Tuam yesterday a traffic plan put in place by Gardai ensured that everything went smothly and with a minimum of traffic disruption.A lone piper let the corage and the coffin of 24-year-old Edward was carried from lower Dublin Road to the cemetery and a carriage drawn by four horses as well as two young men on horseback travelled in front.Onlookers said it was a very dignified occasion and an estimated 300 to 400 people followed Edward Ward's remains to the cemetery.Edward's wife Jodie and his parent Martin and Nora, brothers, sisters and many other relatives walked behind the coffin on its final journey.Edward was gunned down at a garage in Walkinstown, Dublin last night week and Gardai investigations into his callous killing and that of Dublin man Brian Downes are continuing.
