Date Published: 03-Aug-2012

Both the attendance and the betting were substantially down in Ballybrit for Ladies Day.

The crowd of just over 37 thousand was down by almost six thousand on last year's Thursday meeting.

The combined tote and bookies spend of three million was also down almost by a million on 2011.

Well known faces in the crowd included former Ireland soccer player Jason McAteer, TV personality Kathryn Thomas and TV3's Noel Cunningham.

Today is an evening meeting at Ballybrit and the first of the 7 races goes to post at ten past five.
