It appears the Labour Party does not have a clear policy on elected representatives going against party lines. The party has refused to comment on Galway city councillor Colette Connolly’s decision to campaign AGAINST her party on the Lisbon treaty referendum.Labour would not say if there are plans for disciplinary action to be taken against Councillor Connolly as a result of her decision to vote NO.Party officials in Dublin also said the issue was a matter for the 'local constituency'.However when Labours only Galway Dail Representative Michael D Higgins was contacted he also refused to comment on the situation or on the party's polices for occurances similar to this.
