A Romanian man has been found guilty by a jury at Galway Circuit Criminal Court this afternoon of withholding information during a Garda investigation into the killing of Oughterard publican and teacher, John Kenny, in his pub last year.

The jury took just over three hours to find former Galway bus depot security guard, Florin Fitzpatrick(38), a Romanian National, guilty of withholding information between September 25 and 28 last year, which might have been of assistance in the apprehension of people involved in Mr Kenny’s death, which occurred on September 25, 2011 at his pub on Main Street, Oughterard.

Family and friends of the deceased cheered and clapped when the unanimous guilty verdict was returned by the jury which had been deliberating for just under three hours.

The judge remanded the accused in custody for sentence on December 19 next.
