Jobs Minister hopes Xtra Vision can be saved
The Jobs Minister says he hopes that Xtravision can be saved.
A receiver has been appointed to the 160 shops which employs over 1,000 people in Ireland.
Xtra-vision has city outlets in the Galway Shopping Centre on the Headford Road and in Knocknacarra.
In the county, its branches are based in Oranmore, Ballinasloe, Loughrea and Tuam.
All of the company's stores are to remain open while a buyer is found by receivers Ernst and Young.
A downturn in rentals and problems with credit has led to the decision.
Minister Richard Bruton says he hopes the business can be turned around.
