INVESTIGATION TO ASSESS SAFETY OF PORTUMNA HOTEL AFTER FIRE

An investigation will begin today to find out the cause of a fire a hotel in Portumna yesterday and to establish if the building is now safe.[7/9]
The smell of smoke lingers in the town following yesterday's fire at the Shannon Oaks Hotel and Country Club.
Throughout the night, three fire units stood by to dampen down the smouldering embers of the fire that destroyed the centre of the two-storey hotel.
It's thought the fire started in the kitchen of the hotel around lunchtime yesterday.
