An investigation has been launched following a break in at an animal sanctuary in Killimor overnight.

The raiders stole six dogs from the centre of the GSPCA, located between Killimor and Portumna.

Management are concerned for the welfare of the animals, greyhounds and jack russells, as many were undergoing treatment for injuries at the time.

The sanctuary was also extensively damaged by the intruders.
