ICONIC BUILDING AT GALWAY HARBOUR MAY KICKSTART DEVELOPMENT PLAN

An architectural competition to find a world class building for Galway Docks could be the catalyst needed for the overall redevelopment of the harbour.That's according to Patrick McCabe, Chairman of Open House who helped launch the competition at Galway Harbour offices earlierIn conjunction with Galway Harbour and the Royal Institute of the Architects of Ireland, Open House is looking for ideas for a building which would be located at Centre Pier.The building must provide for a public stage, exhibition area, retail space, marina facilities, tourist information and commercial offices.The competition is open to architects and students of architecture and the winner will be announced at a special exhibit at centre Pier in October.
