Date Published: 25-Nov-2011
The HSE West has spent over €24 million on agency staff in the first nine months of the year.
It's despite the fact that 780 public jobs have been cut to date, and more HSE job cuts are expected by the end of the year.
Seperately, private companies got around €9 million this year to provide health care in the region.
An embargo on recruiting staff in the HSE west is still in place.
Galway city councillor Catherine Connolly says the HSE West need to lift the recruitment ban to claw back funds.
