HSE speaks out on overspend at Toghermore campus

Galway Bay fm newsroom - There is no suggestion of any wrong-doing in the overspend on refurbishment works at a mental health facility near Tuam.

That's according to area manager for the Galway Roscommon PCCC Catherine Cunningham speaking after figures were published for the Toghermore campus. An audit report shows that the HSE spent 224 thousand euro on furniture and crockery in 2011 despite having a budget of just 10 thousand set aside for this. While new admissions to the residential facility ceased in December, all other mental health services such as the day hospital and day centre run as normal.Speaking on Galway Talks, Catherine Cunningham says HSE staff spent the money on improving services for patients.
