HSE FORMS LOCAL STEERING GROUP TO DEAL WITH TOGHERMORE CAMPUS

Date Published: 20-Dec-2012
The HSE has formed a local steering group to deal with the transfer of residents from a health facility in Tuam.
It follows an independent report into Toghermore House which revealed the building did not meet minimum fire and and safety standards.
New admissions to the 18 bed residence ceased last Monday.
All other mental health services at the Toghermore complex including day hospital, day centre and child and adolescent services will continue to run as normal.
Galway East TD Micheal Kitt raised the issue in the Dail last evening (19/12).
Responding on behalf of Minister Kathleen Lynch, Dublin South Deputy Alex White said the steering group is considering the careful relocation of patients.
