A HSE building in Connemara, which has been empty for the past four years, will finally be put to use.It was confirmed at this week's Health Forum meeting that seven patients will be transferred from Merlin Park Hospital to the building in Baile Na hAbhann in the coming weeks.A local committee gave the purpose built building as a gift to the HSE west in 2005, to be used as a facility for elderly patients needing full time care.It still remains unclear however, who exactly will be running the premises now it is to be put to use.Councillor Catherine Connolly says she is glad there is finally good news on the long running saga.
