House commencements in Galway plummeted during the month of August.
There were 54 commencement notices issued in the county - down from 73 in August 2024.
And in Galway City, there were just 2 commencements - compared to 22 during the same month last year.
The major slump is reflected in the national figures for August, which are almost halved compared to 2024 - and the lowest figures on record since 2016.
