THE arrival of our Winter wonderland over the weekend decimated almost the whole soccer programme as just one game survived on Sunday while just six ties were played on Saturday.
Just one of the three games down for decision in the FAI Junior Cup was played and generally the rest of the league and cup action was wiped out.
Hibernians qualified for the National Open draw in the Junior Cup following a comfortable win over Bohemians, while Corrib Rangers stole a march on the students of NUI Galway in the Premier League as they somehow left the Westside with all the points on offer.
Meanwhile the Galway Youths got their Inter League campaign under way on Saturday, but the defending champions were ambushed in the rural setting of Tulla as long grass and a tight pitch saw them held to a 2-2 draw by the Clare League.
HIBERNIANS 6BOHEMIANS 1
REFEREE Trevor Conlon spent a long time checking the nets before this game and just as well as Hibernians stretched them on six occasions and indeed such was the gulf in class they could have tested their durability on a few other occasions also.
This FAI Junior Cup Fourth Round tie in Bohermore was competitive for about the opening 10 minutes as the sides competed on equal terms, but once Hibernians got a foothold there was only one team which looked like winning.
