HEALTH MINISTER CONTACTS PRAVEEN HALAPPANAVAR

Date Published: 14-Feb-2013
The Health Minister's been in contact with Praveen Halappanavar in the wake of the leaking of a draft report of the investigation into the death of his wife Savita at University Hospital Galway
In the Dáil today the Public Expenditure Minister described the leak as shameful, unacceptable and hurtful.
Savita died at UHG on the 28th of October 2012, after suffering a miscarriage and contracting septicaemia.
The draft report details a litany of medical failures - including a lack of clarity among key staff about who was responsible for acting on blood tests which showed a possible infection on the day Savita was admitted to hospital.
Brendan Howlin's faced calls from Sinn Féin for a copy of the report to be given to Mr Halappanavr immediately.
But he says the investigation must be allowed complete its work.
