GROWING ANGER OVER LOSS OF COMMUNITY GARDAI AT WEEKENDS

There's growing anger in Galway over the loss of Community Gardai at weekends. They've been deployed to the city on Saturdays and Sundays. This week's Galway city joint policing committee was told by Superintendent Tom Curley that he won't apologise to anyone for using Community Gardai as extra manpower in the city.He said there were 28 anti-social behaviour hotspots in the city which needed 15-men Garda units at various times and community gardai were needed to help patrol these areas. But Chairperson of Galway City Community Forum Nuala O'Hara isn't happy that outer-lying areas are losing their community gardai when they need them most
