An East Galway landfill has won its bid to have a regional restriction on accepting waste lifted. An Bord Pleanála has granted Greenstar Holdings Ltd permission to accept waste from Connaught and the rest of the country at its dump in Killagh More. However it cannot take in waste from the Greater Dublin area. Greenstar must also submit records of all waste delivered to the site to Galway County council each month. The move by Greenstar to have the regional restriction lifted attracted objections from over 50 individuals, as well as County councillor Michael Mullins and the Kilconnell, New Inn, Cappaghtaggle Anti-Dump Group.
