Date Published: 29-Sep-2008

The Green Party are first off the mark in Galway to announce their candidates for next year's local elections. The party is putting forward five candidates altogether, three in the city and two in the county. City councillor Niall O'Brolcháin is currently the only elected Green Party politician at either local or national level West of the Shannon. He's running for a seat in the new five seat Galway City West ward, formerly called the South ward. Speaking at today's press launch, Cllr O'Brolcháin is optimistic they can at least double the number of Green Party councillors in Galway.
