The Government is to withdraw its public service obligation on air routes at a number of airports including Galway.

The PSO's will cease from July on air routes at Galway, Knock, Sligo, and Derry, and they will be open to commercial air services.

However, PSO's on air routes between Donegal and Dublin airport, and on the Kerry to Dublin route will continue to be funded.

Minister Noel Dempsey made the annoucement following a review of the Regional Airports Programme, which was published today,

City Councillor Brian Walsh says this decision will have a knock on affect on thousands of people.
