Traffic circulation around University Hospital Galway is set to be improved as a result of a new ring road. The HSE West has just been granted planning permission for the road around the perimeter of the hospital grounds. The works include widening and upgrading the existing road between the main hospital entrance at Newcastle road and the Cancer Care residence, Inis Aoibhinn. The new road will be built between Inis Aoibhinn and the hospital mortuary and result in a reduction of about 20 car spaces. However it's thought the loss of parking spaces will be offset by the reduction in traffic congestion around the hospital.
